about

I'm Nikki.

And this is my husband Josh. (He doesn't always make that face.)

We were married August 2, 2008.
(In case you needed proof....)

This is Lucy, our one-and-a-half year old black lab.
My favorite running buddy.  The biggest attention-whore (said in the most loving way) I know.  For someone who wasn't a "dog-person," I love this dog more than I could have ever imagined, evidenced by my daily acceptance of slobbery kisses.

Josh and I have been trying to conceive our first child since May 2010.  We "pulled the goalie" (that's for my hockey-loving husband) in April 2010, and have encountered irregular cycles ever since.  At the beginning of 2011 I began a Clomid regimen, with mixed results (and no baby).  In June 2011, we met with a Reproductive Endocrinologist (aka RE, a fertility specialist) and I was diagnosed with PCOS.  In July, Josh had a semen analysis done and we found out he has borderline low morphology = male factor infertility.  We did three more cycles of Clomid + timed intercourse with our RE, and still no pregnancy.  In October of 2011, we decided to pursue IVF.  We start meds in November and plan to transfer the first week of December.

In the meantime, I like to run.  I ran my first marathon in Traverse City, MI in May 2010 and my second in Detroit in October 2011.  I am tired of putting life (read: running) on hold because I might be pregnant at a certain time, so for now, I'm not.  By the way, I'm a "slow" runner (getting faster), but it's all relative anyway, right?

This blog will chronicle our journey trying to get pregnant, my running, our life with puppy, and everything in between.
